There's a fantastic TED talk on The World Peace Game which contains the following revelation: "You don't really ever want to cross a nine-year-old girl with tanks." I feel like this is probably similar to Teal'c's revelation after watching the Tau'ri take down so many Goa'uld... with so little decorum.
And poor Hammond. I feel like you can see, as you watch the early seasons, the growing realization Hammond has that SG-1 might be completely invested in shredding rules of standard conduct and common sense and repurposing Occam's razor into some kind of freakish vorpal contraption and any other general would try to rein them in and make them heel, but you know what, from everything he's observed, it's really a much better deal to be on their good side. He started off so earnestly trying not to take Jack's crap, and then it all went weird.
